Dr. Rearick grew up in Ohio, studying medicine at Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine doing his post graduate studies in Atlanta, becoming board certified in Family Medicine . After managed care had taken over his practice, he obtained a MBA from Emory University and was one of the early founders of a large medical group practice that eventually grew to an integrated physician run healthcare system. Like most physician run health systems, it imploded and he turned to the dark side becoming a medical director with the nation's largest managed care insurer-- going through NCQA accreditation, monitoring the quality of 7,000+ physicians, and working to meet his annual bonus by consistently acheiving a <82% medical loss ratio. Leaving managed care behind, he served as Chief Medical Officer of a national cost containment company, industry consulting focused on helping organizations improve the health of their workforce to control medical costs. He joined Strategic Benefit Solutions as VP of Medical Management in 2005 responsible for implementing wellness programs, performing medical/Rx claim predictive modeling, identifying health cost drivers and implementing population health management strategies and value based benefit designs for SBS clients.
Dr. Rearick lectures frequently, is married to his wife of 32 years who has blessed him with four wonderful children (they become more wonderful as they become more independent). He is an enophile, escaping to his vinyard in North Georgia every weekend.
